Shaoxing Vocational & Technical College Establishes Budapest Institute of Engineering and Technology in Hungary

The unveiling ceremony of the Budapest Institute of Engineering and Technology, Shaoxing Vocational & Technical College was recently held at Edutus University in Hungary as a key activity during the exchange visit of a delegation led by Shen Lihua, Director of the Development Committee of Shaoxing Vocational & Technical College, to Edutus University.

During the visit, the delegation was warmly received by Dr. Szonja A. Buslig, Vice President of Hungary-China Friendship Association, Dr. Gál Andrea, Rector of Edutus University, Vice Rector Vigh László and Szénzsi Annamária, Director of International Relations. All participants engaged in in-depth exchanges and seminars.

Focusing on the development of the Budapest Institute of Engineering and Technology, the two sides hosted 12 themed seminars covering cross-border e-commerce, artificial intelligence, mechatronics and robotic technology, as well as vocational skills training. Preliminary consensus was reached on jointly building the E-Commerce Workshop, developing courses collaboratively and carrying out skills training. The delegation visited practical training bases and robotics laboratories on three campuses of Edutus University and made field trips to local Chinese-funded enterprises in Hungary, yielding a number of substantial cooperation achievements.

Rector Gál Andrea of Edutus University introduced the preliminary construction plan for the E-Commerce Workshop. Teachers Shen Lan and Gao Yahong from our Cross-border E-commerce major briefed the attendees on the current state of e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce at our college, as well as the related talent cultivation efforts. After detailed discussions over training modes, target groups, curriculum content and class hours, the two parties reached a preliminary cooperation intention to co-establish the E-Commerce Workshop.

The delegation attended special lectures and demonstrations delivered by Edutus University regarding AI application in teaching and the World Robot Olympiad (WRO). Song Fangqin, Associate Dean of the School of Information Engineering, and Wu Qunhong from the School of Electromechanical Engineering and Transportion shared the college’s experience in AI teaching application, mechatronics instruction and robotics competition organization. Both sides held full discussions on introducing the college’s core courses Principles and Applications of Single-Chip Microcomputer and Python Programming in Hungary, alongside co-developing courses and textbooks tailored to Hungary’s vocational training requirements.

The delegation paid a special visit to the European base of Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd., a Chinese-funded enterprise in Hungary. Headquartered in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. is a global leading enterprise engaged in the R&D and production of new-energy lithium batteries and cobalt & nickel new materials. Sun Jun, General Manager, and Wang Pengxiang, Technical Director of the European base, received the delegation and introduced corporate development and talent training needs. Xu Zefang, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, presented the college’s school-running overview and training services provided by the Budapest Institute of Engineering and Technology. The two sides had thorough communication on vocational skill training and Chinese language training for enterprise employees.

This overseas visit successfully wrapped up the unveiling of the Budapest Institute of Engineering and Technology and secured concrete progress in co-building the E-Commerce Workshop, sharing curriculum resources and launching school-enterprise training programs. It has accumulated valuable experience and consolidated the foundation for the college to steadily export courses, textbooks and vocational skill standards, back the overseas development of Chinese-funded enterprises and further deepen international cooperation in vocational education.
